Quedan tan solo unas semanas para la celebración de una de las citas más importantes del año en el mundo de los videojuegos, motivo de emoción, quinielas y hacer piña entre los fans debido a su gran broche final: elegir cual ha sido el mejor juego del año. Nos referimos, por supuesto, a The Game Awards 2016, la entrega de premios con más peso en la industria para seleccionar los títulos más destacados de este año – siempre y cuando hayan sido lanzados antes del mes de noviembre.

En la edición de este año, además de los premios, podremos esperar una nueva ronda de exclusivas, que según sus organizadores se centrará más este año en vídeos de gameplay que en anuncios cinemáticos de títulos aún sin anunciar. Como es habitual, estas exclusivas son secretas, pero a uno de los protagonistas ya lo conocemos: BioWare anunció el pasado N7 Day que The Game Awards 2016 será el escenario del primer gameplay de Mass Effect Andromeda.

Hay que hacer una mención especial para los kojimistas de corazón, pues este año el creativo Hideo Kojima estará presente y recibirá el premio Icono de la Industria, algo especialmente celebrado tras haber visto prohibida su asistencia a la ceremonia el pasado año por cláusulas contractuales con la defenestrada Konami. El premio que gano entonces por Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain tuvo que ser recogido por el actor Keifer Sutherland.

El carismático Geoff Keighley será una vez más el encargado de presentar la popular gala, que tendrá lugar en la madrugada del próximo 2 de diciembre, dando inicio a las 02.30 de la mañana, hora española. Podrá seguirse en todo el mundo a través de varios sitios webs de streaming como Youtube, Twitter o Twitch, así como a través de Xbox Live, PlayStation y Steam.
